- WHAT IS A HACKATHON?
A hackathon is an event where teams collaborate to solve real-world problems, typically in the tech field, by creating innovative solutions within a set timeframe. It’s a fun, high-energy experience where creativity, coding, and teamwork come together.
- WHERE ARE THE EVENTS?
Both the hackathon and datathon will be held at the Escola d’Enginyeria of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
- HOW MANY MEMBERS CAN A GROUP HAVE?
Teams consist of 3 to 4 people. You can either come with your own pre-formed team or join solo and meet your teammates at the event.
- WHO CAN ATTEND THE EVENT?
Any student (18+ years old) from any degree or university is welcome to participate! The only requirements are an interest in technology and some basic programming knowledge.
- WHAT IF I DO NOT HAVE A CODING BACKGROUND?
No problem! You’re here to learn and grow. Skills like communication, idea generation, teamwork, and presentation are just as important as technical knowledge. The less experience you have, the more you’ll gain, and the more memorable your experience will be!
- WHAT IF I HAVE ANY DIETARY RESTRICTIONS?
Just let us know your dietary preferences when you register, and we’ll take care of the rest! We offer options for vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, halal, and other dietary needs.

- WHAT IS A DATATHON?
A datathon is similar to a hackathon but focuses on data analysis and problem-solving using data sets. Participants work with large amounts of data to derive insights and develop solutions, often involving machine learning, data visualization, or statistical analysis.
- WHAT DOES UAB THE HACK PROVIDE?
We’ll provide you with a high-speed Wi-Fi connection, workspaces equipped with power outlets, and meals (including coffee breaks, lunch, dinner, breakfast, and midnight snacks).
Throughout the weekend, we’ll also offer fun activities, games, and inspiring conferences to help you unwind and refresh your mind!
- CAN I CHANGE MY TEAM DURING THE HACKATHON? HOW?
Yes! We encourage you to be open-minded and adventurous. Feel free to meet new people and change your team if you wish. You don’t need to notify us, just update your team members when submitting your final project.
- WHAT IF I AM NOT A STUDENT?
If you’ve graduated within the past two years, you can still join the event as a hacker! If you graduated more than two years ago, you can still be part of the experience by applying as a mentor.
- WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
All attendees should bring the following:
- Valid ID for admission
- Laptop and charger (Type F plugs)
- Sleeping bag
- Comfortable clothes
- Cushion
- Reusable water bottle or canteen
- WHAT IF I ARRIVE LATE OR HAVE TO LEAVE BEFORE FINISHING?
No worries! Just make sure your teammates are aware, and they can cover for you while you’re away. As long as your team is aligned, you’re good to go.
